J FOUR is proudly owned, operated, and shared by the Janecek Family in Southern California's Ramona wine country. Rooted in San Diego County, the Janeceks have deep connections with community through business ownership, philanthropy, and most importantly—Family.
Our vineyard sits in a microclimate uniquely suited to bold reds and aromatic whites. We planted four varietals chosen specifically for this land: Syrah, Petite Sirah, Viognier, and Zinfandel. That each of these also matches a family member's palate was a fortunate bonus.
Four Varietals, One Terroir
When we planted our vineyard, we chose varietals uniquely suited to Ramona's warm days, cool nights, and rocky soil—grapes that would thrive here and produce wines we'd be proud to share. That these four also happen to match our family's palates? A happy coincidence.
Syrah
Loves our warm days and cool nights. Produces bold, peppery wines with the structure Ramona's climate delivers.
Petite Sirah
Thrives in our rocky, well-drained soil. Intensely dark with firm tannins that reward patience.
Viognier
Flourishes in the heat, developing the aromatic intensity and stone fruit character this grape is known for.
Zinfandel
A California classic that finds its stride in our inland climate—jammy, spicy, and unmistakably San Diego.
